Laser Hair Removal

Highly effective and painless

The battle to banish unwanted body hair has long marked human history. Ancient Mesopotamian women used copper razors to achieve smooth and hairless skin, Samoans sharpened shells to rid themselves of underarm hair and Middle Eastern women boiled sugar into a type of wax to achieve a hair-free look.

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic medical procedure that applies the principle of photothermolysis. An intense, pulsating beam of light passes through the skin along the hair shaft and is absorbed and converted into heat energy at the hair follicle. The intense heat from the light damages the root, inhibiting new hair growth.

How does it work?

The beam of light applied to the skin by the special light apparatus. The light energy converted to heat at the root of the unwanted hair. The idea is to heat just the tissue, where the hair follicle is found. The skin on top is not affected. The follicle then will be unable to grow new hairs. The first time procedure affects about 30% of hair follicles. After about 6 sessions you are getting smooth hairless skin. The effectiveness of the treatment depends of the shade of the skin and the color of your hair.

It is because the energy is absorbed better by areas of highest pigmentation. Because of that IPL and laser hair removal are most effective on people who have dark hair and fair skin. In these people, the hair has much more pigment than the skin, so it will absorb the most of light energy and is therefore heated the most.
To protect your eyes from intense light we provide special protective glasses.

How should I prepare for laser hair removal?

You should not wax, tweeze, or pluck hair for at least two weeks before your laser hair removal treatment. The day before or the day of your laser hair removal treatment, shave the area you plan to have lasered.
You should also avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and tanning lotions for several weeks before your treatment.

What should I expect during a laser hair removal treatment?

During treatment, a laser emits a concentrated beam of light to target the pigment in your hair. The heat from the laser damages hair follicles, preventing hair regrowth. You may feel mild discomfort, like a warm pinprick, as the light is passed over your skin.
